Modern Shift Dress

How about a splash of lemon yellow for the summer. This outfit features a charming shift dress with front draped detail by Karen Millen. The top handle bag from Dolce & Gabbana has woven rafia details to play off the braided detail on the Prada platform sandals. Wear this to the office and top it with a wide-brimmed straw hat to protect your precious skin from the harmful UV rays when you go outside. :)

Trend: Cold Shoulders

I recently noticed that some tops and dresses have cut out at the shoulders. They are chicly called 'Cold Shoulder'. I think it's a nice trend for the hot summer. Take a look at this collection. You can click on the individual image to see a larger image and description.

Funeral

I am going to an unveiling ceremony (part of a funeral) this weekend and am invited to go to a lunch at the widow's home immediately afterwards. The ceremony will be outside in the morning but it should be around 75F. This black crochet knit dress is very subdued but the crochet texture keeps it chic. The strappy sandals with wooden platform by Jessica Simpson work as a focal piece. The look is finished with a simple necklace (in this set, a Chanel Vintage one), earrings, and a chain strap bag.

Shirt Dress for the Office

Another office appropriate outfit. This one is light and sweet, perfect for Spring. The light blue and white A-line shirt dress has interesting patch pockets on the top. It also has two slit pockets on the side. The white tailored jacket by Elizabeth Marant helps make the outfit look more preppy. The blue and white ballet flat features large perforations and oversize buckle. I also love the modern clear chair in the set.

By the way, the model is Jessica Stam. Doesn't she look amazing?

42. Melbourne

Number 42 in the 60 City Challenge is Melbourne, Australia. I found this very lovely and romantic picture of Melbourne. It reminded me of Audrey Hepburn and her classic style. This dress in neutral colors seemed to exude that same elegance. Simple pearl earrings, pearl necklace, a clutch from Zara kept with the same theme. The gorgeous Valentino (my favorite designer) satin sandals with crystal and bow embellishment brought a little surprise to the outfit. (You should click to see the big image of the shoes. They are fabulous!!)

41. Athens

Number 41 in the 60 City Challenge is Athens. I couldn't resist Greek's famous white and bright blue palette. The white tunic dress looked so light and airy. The bow detail and the blue embroidery on one side of the hem are very cute as well. I picked a one-shoulder swim
suit for the set. Blue thong sandals with silver tone studs seemed the perfect choice for Greece. Finally, the tote bag and the earrings had similar circular designs in blue. I thought they look Greek and would go well with the outfit. Oh, one last thing. I found Nars lip gloss called Greek Holiday. It's supposed to look like sparkling pink sand. How cute!

40. Seattle

Number 40 in the 60 City Challenge. I found this art of Seattle on Polyvore. The beautiful pastel palette made it the perfect image for this set. The dress by 3.1 Phillip Lim had such an interesting lace patchwork. I picked a formal black blazer by Zadig & Voltaire to go with it. Both the dress and the blazer are sort of form-fitting. I played off the emphasis on shapes by adding the smart black platform stiletto by Dolce Vita and a nude rectangular handbag. The multi-chain necklace is small enough so it doesn't clash with the pattern on the dress but significant enough so it does not disappear. I just loved the drop earrings with geodes and diamonds from Kimberly McDonald. The colors go with the outfit perfectly and the round natural shapes help break the monotony of the rectangular patterns on the dress.

39. Casablanca

This is number 39 in the 60 City Challenge. Casablanca is in Morocco. I found so many beautiful pictures of Casablanca and Morocco when I was looking for some to use in the set that I decided to put it on my travel list.

The dress is a kaftan style dress to go with traditional Moroccan costumes. While  the real Moroccan style kaftans are a lot more ornate and elegant, this dress is more in the minimalist side. I dress it up with gold sandals, metallic leather bag with cute lasercut details, and a statement shell necklace.
